Just enjoyed your show at the Dubuque fireworks last night. We go every year and while I enjoy the fireworks I love the airshow to see these beautiful jets and planes and what they can do is just breathtaking. Thank you. Also thank you for what you have done in your service to our country it means alot to those of us who did not serve our country that you risk your lives for the rest of us to be free.

I want to let you guys all know that the other night I was on my way into work, and always go past Aero Ests. and saw you doing your BREAK to LAND after the Mil. flyby. Have seen you do many fly overs, but none compare to that one.

Sure brought back old memories from the Navy (61-66). Great Job.

Thanx, John Seidelman

I just came home from The MoodyBlues concert at the Fox Stadium in Appleton,Wisc. and I just HAD to write on behalf of myself, and many others, who sat in AWE watching the Lima Lima Flight Team do their show before the concert!

I don't have any idea what is in store for our EAA Airshow held here anually, but I'm wondering if Lima Lima are going to be involved? We would LOVE to see them again!

Thank them all for doing a wonderful, maticulous show!

See you next year,

Dear Sir:

On behalf of the men and women of David Schultz Airshows and all of the hundreds of volunteers and members of the Fuerza Aérea Dominica, we wish to thank the Lima Lima Flight Team for their great performances during the 2002 Caribbean Airshow in the Dominican Republic. This event featured aircraft from all over the world and was a great success with over 50,000 Dominican Republic citizens in attendance for this one day event. We appreciate your professionalism and your attention to detail that helped showcase the best in civilian airshow performances.

We have been coordinating airshows all over the world for over 10 years now, and nowhere else have we seen the cultural impact that this event had on the island nation. Airshow performances that we have learned to take for granted here in the United States, captivated everyone in attendance. This event gave hope to many that live in despair each and every day. It showed them another path in their life and also showed the humanitarian side of aviation.

The inclusion of Lima Lima had a major impact on the Fuerza Aérea Dominicana as well. From the first time they saw you fly, the pilots of the Fuerza Aérea Dominicana in the T-35 Pilans learned about the precision nature of taxiing, take-offs, and demonstration flight. The people of the Dominican Republic are a very proud people and they were constantly learning from the great example that Lima Lima set. The professionalism and expertise shown by Lima Lima will forever change the work ethic and attention to detail of all within the Fuerza Aérea Dominicana.

We thank you for your support of this event, your great performances, and for showcasing the best in civilian airshow aviation. We hope to work with you again in the near future.

Sincerely,

David Schultz, President
David Schultz Airshows

Dear Lima Lima Team:

I live on the western edge of Batavia where yesterday 4 of you practiced (Saturday Oct 5th) for about an hour. What a show...thank you. There are many planes like yours who fly overhead, and I always run outside to wave when they do. (OK, so I'm 45 years old, but I still enjoy planes) But I was thrilled when through my binoculars I realized that it was all of you and I sat on my deck for the entire time. I have great respect for what you do and have always enjoyed your shows. I felt like yesterday was my own private air show.

I completely enjoyed watching you yesterday, so PLEASE fly over any time. I promise I'll wave!

TREMENDOUS! We were there on Sunday as the die hard fans of Lima Lima. I swear you guys get better every year! I still have a hard time standing there on the ground, imagining my "conservative" insurance agent is doing these death-defying moves, but we love it!

This time we were right on North Beach, so the show was wonderful to see from there.

So, keep flying high, talk to you soon.

After seeing your team perform today at Navy Pier's Air & Water Show, I had to send you a note to say "YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME". We live in Naperville and our sons always run to the windows or front door to see your planes fly over head. We live across the street from Cowlishaw Elementary School, so your landing pattern is directly over our house. We are always dazzled and amazed to see your formations when you're landing. However, to actually see your performance today was simply breath taking. Keep up the great work and yes...we're proud to be Americans!!

Sincerely,

I just wanted to tell you how much we've enjoyed watching your talented team of pilots. I also wanted to express my sincere thanks for giving my father a chance to take a run with your team yesterday. We were waiting to see my mom take her ride on the "Firecat" when my father was offered a chance to fly along with your team. He was a bit hesitant but we said there was no way he should pass on this chance of a lifetime! Now, he is so glad he said yes. My parents both had an amazing day. Thanks again!

Lima Lima Flight Team,
I saw the team last night at the Goshen Air Show and was amazed!!!  I thought the early show was awesome but the afterdark lighted show was even more!!!  Please share with the entire team how outstanding everyone in our party thought they were.  We talked about you for hours after we got back to the hotel.  I have seen a few air shows, including the one that used to be held here in Kalamazoo, which I thought were great.  I have never seen a better team than Lima Lima.  You guys are simply amazing and I will watch for your appearances in the future as I definitely want to see this team again.  Kudos, Kudos & more kudos

My family and I just wanted to thank you for a wonderful show in Goshen yesterday. I had never seen a night show before and it was beautiful! We appreciate all that you do. The airshows go a long way in helping us foster a positive sense of patriotism in our daughters, aged 8 and 10.   My father is veteran of WWII and Korea, and it is great for the girls to be able to see some of the planes and equipment that Grandpa used.   Thank you again for a great experience!   Susan, Curtis, Gwenivere and Melissa Stephan

I just wanted to tell you that Lima Lima flying overhead during the fireworks has become my favorite part of the Fourth of July celebrations. I'm a pizza delivery driver, I was out all night tonight driving around Naperville. At first I didn't even realize I was looking at Lima Lima, take this as a compliment, you guys were flying so close together that I thought I was looking at a passenger jet that had lights along its wings for some bizzare reason (all I could see where your lights, I couldn't make out the outline of your aircraft). Only after I'd been seeing you for a while did I realize it was Lima Lima. When you were passing over the Four Lakes apartment and condo area was when I got my best look at your formation, I'm afraid my customer had to wait a moment while I went back outside to watch you fly over and do a beautiful turn. I was watching you and thought "how many other cities have their own aerobatics team flying overhead accompanying Fourth of July Fireworks?". And I just wanted to say thank you for doing it. I'm a big aviation enthusiast but haven't been to any airshows lately and I really appreciate getting to see you guys doing your thing over my own home territory. Chicago is lucky to have you guys.

Lima Lima Flight Team,
I wanted to thank you for coming to Hampton Roads.  While I did not get to see the show at LAFB, I did enjoy watching you fly over the area on your practice/familiarization flights.  I could hear the planes coming and would always look up and watch until you were out of sight.  A number of other people that I talked with had seen your planes and were impressed even though they are not "aviation" people. I also wanted to thank you for my flight with your team on Thursday, the 20th.  I rode in LL67 (which was the #5 plane) and it was AWESOME !!!!  This was the best flight that I have ever had.  I lived in Gloucester, VA for a number of years and that part of the York River that we flew over is special to me because it is close to home.  The attachment should be a photo I took with the river in the background.  In the excitement I forgot the name of the pilot I was with.  If possible, please e-mail me that tidbit of information.
Thanks again,
Mike Castellow

Hi John.

Was at the Lisle fireworks display the evening of the 4th and watched LL. Phenomenal. Absolutely fantasic. Hells bells, I've flown twice with LL during daylight and found it hard to believe you could fly in formation so closely. This time it was dark...REALLY dark...and watching such close formation flying was unbelievable, to the point where it was almost alarming. There were two formations I hadn't seen before...one was cross shaped and the other looked like a double wedge. Was one of them the "double wedge/double slot" shown on the back of the LL t-shirts I bought from the Wagstaff site? The cross-shaped didn't appear to have a double wedge but the one that looked like a double wedge didn't appear to have a double slot. Sorry if I'm confused when I shouldn't be. By the way, about the t-shirts...I like 'em a lot and think the photo plus caption along with the LL shield is terrific looking. But to be honest, I could do without the "Wagstaff" ad on the front...which I assume is non-negotiable and a part of doing business through the site. 'Bout time a new t-shirt came out...seems like I have practically washed the photo off the old one. Well, anyway, LL was most impressive, as always. My compliments to the team. First rate flying. Just one more thing...also saw the LL flyover from downtown Naperville on Memorial Day, especially when they were in formation with the B-25. Thought it interesting as I was probably one of the very few people (maybe the only one) watching the parade who could look up and say "I have flown in one of those LL T-34's AND also in that same B-25!". Thanks for listening. I'm still, by the way, waving.

Dear Mr. Drendel,

To you sir and the rest of Lima Lima Flight Team I owe a debt of
gratitude. I am a 17 year old student at Alan B. Shepard High School. Ever
since i witnessed a Lima Lima Flight Team demonstration when I was a little
blue eyed boy, I knew I had to become a pilot. Your team has instilled on me
a desire for the "long, delirious, burning blue." I have only been flying
twice, in Cessna aircraft, but those two times have confirmed my love for
flying. I wrote to you, sir, today to commend all of Lima Lima's efforts.
They have burned a passion inside of me, as well as many other young
persons. I hope sir that this email brought a smile to your face, and a
sense of pride in what you do. You, sir, DESERVE to be prided in what you
do, and you should know you have had the greatest impact on my life. Please
show this to your other companions, as I might hope it brings a smile to
their face, as well as yours! Thank you for your time, God's speed.

Sincerely,

Art Urban

Lou,   The performance was wonderful - I was standing in the middle of the parade route to see it - and I would like you to know we have had several great comments about it.  You flew over as the veterans were making their way down the parade route and they were also very impressed.  We had a great turnout that day (of veterans as well as spectators) and I'd like you to know that the spectators stood and applauded every veteran and active armed service person that passed them.  There were a great many tears that day as well.  I am very happy you were able to be a part of what many people have told us was our best festival ever, and we have been doing this for 53 years.

Thank you very much.

Hello to all of the Lima Lima Flight Team from Oregon Aero!

Words are inadequate to express our gratitude and thanks for the
wonderful flying experience you gave to Mike, Marj and myself at the
Oshkosh Airventure 2001 show. It was my first experience: 1. flying
with professionals, 2. flying in formation, 3. taking off during the
Oshkosh show, 4. pulling so many G's. Almost too much to try to explain
to anyone who wasn't there! Simply exhilarating. My sense of the
experience of flying is changed for forever. Thanks to all of you for
getting up early and taking the time and effort to put that together for
us. It was a simply astounding event out there over the lake, an
experience of a lifetime for me!

 Thank you, thank you.

 Warm regards,

Jude Dennis

Dear Lima Lima Flyers:

I just want to tell you what a thrill it is to watch the Lima Lima team
perform.  We watch you every July at "Lislefest".   We would also
occasionally get a glimpse of you as you practiced some of your formations
when we were living with my daughter in Naperville (near 111th & Route 59)
right near your field.  Every time we heard the planes we'd go running
outside to watch you fly by.  Watching you literally makes the hair on my
arms stand up - goose bumps I guess.  I'm sure you've probably heard  this
before - but I wanted to let you know, and to thank you for your bravery and
dedication to performing the maneuvers that give us such a thrill.

Just like the star-spangled banner, I get a lump in my throat watching you
perform.

Our son was a certified pilot instructor in New Jersey.  His goal was to
become a commercial airline pilot one day.  Unfortunately, as he was
instructing another pilot, with the student at the controls, the plane took a
nose-dive and my son was killed.  The student fell on him and survived.  This
was 9 years ago - he was 27.    The plane was a Piper J5A Tail wheel that he
had flown a few months earlier from Illinois to New Jersey, flying low and
following the Interstate because the plane had no instrument panel.

Though we are still saddened by his passing, watching you perform makes it
feel like our son still lives, as I'm sure one day he would have joined your
team.  Although I know your missing man formation is in honor of your fallen
comrade,  I like to think it is also for my son.

Sincerely,
Diane Griggs

Lou,

Thanks for being my heroes!

You guys were spectacular!  I'm so grateful for the early media rides, the drop in to Peoria (they loved it) and the beautiful performances from the night show to the media day to the weekend.  You guys are great!  Of course, you were chosen to be our featured performers for our September show and then came the Blues in May.  I hardly feel like we got to visit much at all.  The sponsor rides on Saturday morning went a million miles.  I have received many thank you notes.  They will never forget their rides or their pilot's names.  2002 will be our 20th Anniversary and with having the Tbirds in 2000 and then the Blues in 2001, I have no idea where to go.  I am working on a campaign to get the Snowbirds as they have only been here once ever in the 80s.  We didn't even request them for 2001.  We gave up on them.  Then, after the Blue's had called and we had moved to May, the Snowbirds called me in February to fly our September show.  Oh brother!  If you happen to see them this year in your travels, please put in a good work for Springfield Air Rendezvous.  I'm trying to bombard them with Springfield.  I'm even asking for a letter writing campaign from our community.  Well, you can't blame a girl for trying.  Anyway, you guys are on the list for strong consideration for 2002.  My wish list is you guys, Snowbirds, Jim LeRoy, Otto (love the new owners), Jim Franklin, Shockwave and Swift Magic.  What do you think?  Any recommendations for others. I'm also looking for any recommendations on improvements. Please tell all the guys how much we appreciated their efforts and how much we enjoyed your outstanding performances.

Thanks to everyone!

Mr. Rippinger:
I had the awesome experience of being a passenger in one of the T-34's that were at the Mt. Hawley Airport in Peoria, Illinois on May 11, 2001.  Thanks to Stan Robinson for an incredible flight.  And thanks to all the pilots for a truly memorable experience.  I requested a picture for my son's school, Rogers Elementary (North Pekin, Illinois) and the pilots suggested I contact you with such a request.  The entire school year has been devoted to flight and some pictures and information would certainly be something the kids would enjoy seeing.    I will forward all information sent on to the school.

Thank you again.  It was quite a ride!!
Sincerely,
Denise Hedge

Dear Lou & all of Lima Lima:

On behalf of the men and women of David Schultz Airshows, Keesler AFB, and the 2000 Keesler AFB Open House, we thank you for your attendance and support of this past weekend’s event in Biloxi, MS. We appreciate all your support and dedication shown throughout the weekend. Your performance was greatly received by the attending airshow fans and Keesler AFB officials. The formation work shown above the skies of Keesler was a wonderful addition to our event. We hope that you enjoyed your visit to the Biloxi area and will look forward to possibly doing more of David Schultz Airshows coordinated events in the near future. Your inclusion in the Keesler AFB event helped to make this a great community event that exceeded organizers’ expectations. Local dignitaries, recruiters, base personnel and the public all enjoyed your participation in our event. Thank you.

As we mentioned to you at this event, the “Hurricane” maneuver was greatly received by all in attendance and was a special tribute to the Hurricane Hunters of the 53rd WRS at Keesler. Ever since the first time we saw your team perform this maneuver, we knew that we had to have you perform at Keesler. Should you ever require a reference for other airshows, please do not hesitate to use our company for such use.

Once again, we appreciate your support of this community event and are pleased that you were able to participate.

Lou, my name is Don Cornell. Back in the early 70's, when I had just
returned from a Vietnam tour in the A-7, you were looking for someone to
write a few paragraphs about the differences between flying combat in the
F-100 and theA-7.
Since I had flown both, I submitted some sort of B.S.
about how it was
to fly the two, and some pictures of me and my buds and
our airplanes...and
you used them in your book, "The A-7 In Action,"...or
maybe it was "The
Corsair II in Action," I don't remember. At any rate, you
were gracious
enough to send me your original artwork of my wing's
airplanes, which you
used on the back cover. That picture has been in a
special place in my "I
love me" room ever since.
We kept in touch for a while....I think I even sent you a helmet one time,
because you were either buying an aerobatic airplane, or needed a military

helmet for some reason or another. But I lost track of you after that.

Imagine my surprise, at the 1st Annual Las Vegas Air Show, in Jean, Nevada,

when watching a flight of 6 gorgeous canary yellow T-34's called the Lima

Lima Squadron, to have the announcer introduce pilot number 5 as former Army
Sergeant Lou Drendel !!! I was there with my son, and he said my eyes got as
big as saucers.
I was very impressed with the air show in general, you and your squadron's
performance in particular, and especially with knowing that you're out doing
things the rest of us would give our eyeteeth to do. Good on ya!
I was extremely proud to have been included in your book and to have been
remembered by you with my painting. And I was most definitely astounded and
proud to hear your name over the loudspeaker last Sunday.

Best of luck to you. I'm very jealous.

Hi there! Just a quick note to say thanks SOOOOOO much for taking me up with you on Sunday morning! I LOVED it! I'm totally hooked...ready to go take flying lessons! (I'm serious...I'll keep you posted!) I'm sure you hear this all the time...except from chicks like the puker in plane 5.
(I
hear plane 5 had even more problems after our first group...do you get that a lot??) Anyway,
I also caught your show on Sunday...awesome! I hope you
guys come back to Vegas next year...I'll be ready to ride in the lead plane again...this time, let's ditch the pukers and do the real deal! :) I'll forward you pictures from our group for your website when we get them developed!

Renee and I would like to thank you and the rest of the Lima Lima Flight
Team for an awesome weekend. Your performances (at least what we got to
see of them) were outstanding. Everyone I spoke to during the show said
that Lima Lima was the show's most impressive act.
I was honored to fly with Bill on Friday afternoon, as was Renee to fly
with Lou on Sunday morning. I was an experience neither of us will ever
forget.
It was also a pleasure to get to know all of you up close and personal at
the social events during the show. You are a classy group of gentlemen and
we enjoyed every moment we spent with you.
Again, thank you for a truly awesome weekend. We both look forward to
seeing you here in Winston-Salem again in 2001.

With warm regards and wishes,

Kathy Whelen

In my opinion your  performance at Winston-Salem was your best ever.
The new Hurricane maneuver is fantastic.

Hello Bill!

Frank and I hope you and the rest of the team had a good ride going
home. It was just wonderful having you here again. It was a great show
with perfect wx and, best of all, a safe one.

Getting to fly with Skip was quite a thrill, to put it mildly. The closest we
had ever come to formation flying before was at the end of a
150 ft. rope
behind the tow plane during a glider tow! This was
certainly the most
exciting and excellent adventure we have ever had. We
appreciate
having the opportunity to fly with the team and we THANK YOU.

I had a lot of contact with the show line crowd in the course of both
days and my impression was that their favorite events were Lima Lima,
the flying farmer, the pyro technics and the water bomber, the Bud
Clydesdales and the jet truck. The Stealth bomber is a category unto
itself, so awesome. It makes you glad it is ours.

Please extend our thanks to the entire team. We hope you will be here
again next year.

Best regards,

Pat and Frank Barber

To the Lima Lima Flight Team-

I am in awe of those who ‘reach for the sky’- and so thrilled to have been treated to a ride during the Chicago Air Show (my very favorite event)

My deep thanks to “my personal pilot,” Jim Martin and to the entire crew for an experience I will never forget~ added to it is the fact that my daughter, Linda, who flew with “Ripper” was able to take wonderful pictures of me actually in the sky. She had e-mailed them to Ripper~ hopefully they were received.

The flight was most enjoyable, especially with so kind and most understanding an experienced pilot- The beauty of the scenery left me too wordless to ask questions so maybe one day I’ll be able to do it again.

In the meantime, the very best of luck- I’ll be watching you whenever I can-

With sincere appreciation-

Dolores Hanacek

Dear "Ripper",

Just a note of thanks for letting me go up with you in your plane before the Chicago Air and Water Show.  I was lucky enough to be in one of the groups on Sunday morning.  I have never been in a small plane before or had any experience like this.  It was terrific...and so were you!

My mother Dolores also went up with Jim ("Bullet") and cannot stop raving about her experience.  Please pass on her thanks and appreciation to him.

I have attached seven pictures you may get a kick out of viewing.

Final note - keep the Missing Man segment in your routine.  During Chicago's Air and Water Show there was not a word uttered by the crowd and all eyes were moist.  It was incredibly moving.

Again, thanks for your time and generosity.

I'll never forget it.

Linda

Lima Lima,

I just wanted to thank all of you guys for showing us Gunfighters such a
great time! Lou, I especially want to thank you for tossing me in the trunk
on Sunday. I felt bad that all I had to bring was an Egg McMuffin to the
party. That was the first time that I've ever been in a T34, and I was
immediately impressed with the smoothness of the aircraft, the formation
discipline, and the professional way in which you all do business. Even as a
full time F15E pilot, it's not often (how 'bout never) that I fly with that
many airplanes in such close formation with pilots that I don't know...AND
can feel comfortable at the same time! It was a great thrill and will remain
a memorable flight for years to come. The flight was a sincere treat, and
it's obvious that you guys work excellent as a team with experience,
discipline and polish beyond reproach. As a captain, it was great to look
across the formation and see all my colonel bosses with enormous smiles
welded on their faces...another rare, but equally pleasant, sight. (a little
humor there...)
As I mentioned to "Fast" Hicks, it's great being able to talk to those in
industry that have "been there, done that." Aviation is such a great way of
breaking down traditional barriers and bonding those that have a love of the
sky. I must have talked to over 200 different kids at the air show this
weekend, discussing flying and advising them on their different options and
just admiring the various aircraft on display. It seems it wasn't all that
long ago that I was in their shoes asking the same sorts of questions and
could hardly wait until I became old enough to fly myself. I watched several
kids light up with joy when Lima Lima took to the air. That's what aviation
and air
shows are all about. Unfortunately, we only get to spread the good
word just a few times a year, but you guys get to do it all season long. By
the same token, I felt like a kid again asking the same sort of questions to
you all about your airplanes and the airlines. I hope I didn't steal too
much of your time (but I was accused of that as a kid), however the advice
and good words that you all provided are deeply appreciated and valued
greatly. I won't take any more of your gent's time, but if there's ever a
layover or visit in Boise, then surely give me a holler and I'll ensure that
you'll never be thirsty. Excellent performance and hope to see or hear you
in the flight levels! Thanks again and fly safe!

Dear Gary,

I wanted to take a minute and thank you very much for the wonderful
T-34 flight with LL on July 4. I enjoyed every second of it and wished
we could have done more aerobatics. It will always be one of the most
memorable experiences for me. Thank you again and try to keep the
pointy end forward

ALBERT WHITTED AIRPORT ADVISORY COMMITTEE

Dear Lou:

The Albert Witted Airport Advisory Committee thanks you so very much for doing an outstanding air show for our Open House on April 8. Beforehand I had no idea what a “flat show” was but the formation flying was so graceful and beautiful to watch. Please tell your troops that we thank them for such a good job.

Lima Lima has always been special for us.  You are welcome here anytime. The guys on the committee are already talking about next year.  No date has been set but it is possible it  will not be tied to Sun’N Fun.  Are you ever in Florida at any other time?  We will stay in touch.

Sincerely,

Ruth K. Varn, Chairman

P.S. Thanks for leaving some of the Lima Lima posters with us.  They are beautiful and were snapped up in a hurry. One comment  - there is no address or phone number on them so no way for anyone to get in touch with you.  I apologize for FAXing this letter instead of mailing it but it is the only address I have.

Just want to let you and your team know how much we enjoyed your show in Winston on Sunday.  Also a big Thank YOU to you and the other team members that stopped over for a brief time Thursday in VA near Hillsville VA. My daughter and I saw you fly over while she was a soccer practice and drove to the airport to see  your planes, Bethany is only 6 and like most 6 year olds was very excited to get to sit in Hank's plane and has talked nonstop about her little adventure.  Sunday's show was great! My family and I will be watching for you to be in our area again.

Mary Collins

August 13, 1999

Lou,

Thank you so much for allowing me the honor of flying with you Sunday, Sept. 12 in Winston-Salem!
You will never know the thrill it was for me to fly in formation...something
that only one in millions of people ever have the chance to do.
I hope Lima Lima will be able to attend next year's show, as I'm planning to
be working it again and enjoy your acrobatics with intense admiration! Maybe I can talk you into taking me up again huh?

Be safe and keep 'em flying!!!

David "GATOR" Murphy

August 9, 1999

John "Ripper" just to thank you for a great flight with the McCauley group.  I'm still overwhelmed that Jim Simister ask me if I would like to fly.  I had hoped for the opportunity ever since I have worked there.  Since I am retired and only a temporary service employee I didn't think I would ever be so lucky.  The pictures you sent are great and my husband says that is better than our wedding picture.  He really is meaning our 50th anniversary picture.
Thanks again and this was a highlight of my career at McCauley's.  The very best of luck to you and your crew and I'll be looking for Lima Lima to fly again in Dayton.

"Ace" Esther

Gentlemen:

Just a quick follow up to thank you for an entertaining show in Dayton this year. Your performance is quickly becoming a regular expectation here in Dayton, and delivers, in my opinion, one of the greatest acts we see. We hope you will continue to return here, and look forward to catching you at the other shows we will attend this year.

"Your fly-over and air show on July 4th over St. Cletus was everything we hoped for--and more! We had finished our church liturgy with final words from General Dendinger and Archbishop O'Brien. The Army Color Guard led us out, and about 1,700 people were on the lawns of church at 9:25 am. No one missed the six specks of light in the Western sky as shouts of  "Here they come" echoed around the parking lot. You couldn't hear the cheers or applause--or feel the lumps of pride and patriotism--or see the
tears in five or six hundred veterans, who understood your display as a final salute to their courage and sacrifice of years ago from W.W.II, Korea, Vietnam and Desert Storm. The cheers and tears and lumps were all there-in me too.

Thanks sincerely,

Father Ray Klees

July 6, 1999

"The air show on the 4th of July at our church was even more spectacular than we expected! The oh's and ah's could be heard over the roar of the engines. As each pass went by, most people couldn't believe there would be more. Our veterans especially
felt your air show was the icing on the cake of a beautiful morning.

Thank you again for a great show!"

Hi there,

My name is Kevin Kowalik. I attended the Quad Cities Air Show. I loved your performance. My most favorite part was the missing man formation. No matter who I see perform the missing man formation I always cry. I think about my uncle Rick who thank God came back from Vietnam and desert storm. And seeing the missing man formation makes me think about all
the people who didn't come back. Thanks for the best show of civilian flying I've ever seen.

Lou,

I don't believe that THUNDER OVER LOUISVILLE could exist without Lima Lima. Everyone expects Lima Lima to give a good show and you and yours never disappoint anyone. It is always a pleasure to work with your team, and you are a true team. Working with Lima Lima makes my life as Air Boss easy because I know I don't have to worry about your group. Come to think about it you-all have been to more Thunder's than I have, maybe next year  I will let you-all do the briefing.
I want to thank you all for your great show, I don't know which of your show I like the most. The day show is great but there is something about the twilight show that has a definite calming effect on me and I really like it.
I hope everything at Thunder went well for you and yours, and you enjoyed yourselves, I am sorry that I do not have the time to spend with the performers but the nature of Thunder makes it impossible. I always like to get with the performers because I learn from them.
Tell everyone thanks and I will see you again.

Yours truly,

Charlie Lynn, Jr.

Lou,

I was able to be at the Pearl Harbor Day in Peru on Saturday 12-5-98. The Lima Lima Flight Team came in on their first pass and then into the missing man formation. Quite an awesome sight to see your flight coming in along the river. Kudo's to the pilots on their expertise in close formation flying. Thank you for your participation in the Pearl Harbor Day.

Dennis Bowen, Peru

December 1, 1998

Lou,

It's been a month and I wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed working with Lima Lima. You guys are professional aviators and performers in every way! Our attendance figures came to around 50,000 on Saturday and 170,000 on Sunday, 220,000 for the weekend. According to the Arkansas Department of Tourism, that makes us the 2nd largest tourist event in the state! We
follow the State Fair, a 9 day event with an attendance estimate of 400,000. I feel we were successful in every way this year: weather, performers, attendance, and safety!

I look forward to your return next October, and look for Japes at ICAS next week. I have passed a strong recommendation to Maj. Dave Carraway, Randolph AFB, TX Airshow Coordinator, for you guys. Their airshow is in May 99. He too will be at ICAS.

Take Care, and it truly was a pleasure.

Lou Drendel,

My husband and I just wanted to drop a little note to say thank you for coming to the Medford Airshow this weekend.  We really had a wonderful time watching you all.  Your team is exceptional.  We really enjoyed your whole routine.

I don't know if you remember me.  But I was the crazy lady along the fence applauding you guys and saying how great you all were  at the Saturday show.

Any way I hope you will pass this mail on to your team members.  You all made our airshow special.  Last year's show was so bad that we weren't going to go this year.  But when we saw that there was some real entertainment was going to be there we decided to go.  Also we got to see you practicing from our balcony of the apartment we live in.  It faces the airfield.

Again thank you and we hope you come next year.

Sincerely Jim and Dianna Nash

I just caught your act at the Medford Airshow and wanted to thank you. I really enjoyed the precision and care that went into your performance. I work at the airport and enjoyed the warm-ups on Friday, but your Saturday show was even better. Keep up the great work!

Date: Sept 25, 1998

Ed,

I wanted to thank you again for the backseat ride I had with you on Sunday morning, September 20th, in Liberal, KS.
I flew in fighters (F-105 & F-16) for 15 years during my Air Force career, but I put that all behind me when I quit flying 12 years ago.  Since then, I have thought to myself more than once how great it would be to get back in a tactical cockpit just one more time and bore holes in the sky.  Well, now I have, and it was just a great as I thought it would be.  (Of course, now I want to do it just one  more time, again!) I also wanted to thank you for giving me some stick time in the slot on the way back to the pattern.  It makes for a great 'war story'.

Thanks also for spending so much time with my eight year old nephew Ryan. He must have been sitting in the cockpit of your plane for over 10 minutes and asking you questions the whole time.  He really loved it, and it was extremely nice of you to give him that much time.

Some other observations:  I watched your show on Sunday afternoon with a more critical eye than I had on Saturday afternoon, and it really looked good.  Great   job.  I was also very impressed with the turn performance of the T-34 (I was used to the 40-50 second loop instead of the 18 second one)!

Thanks again to you and the whole Lima Lima team.  You made my day (and week and year).  It was Sierra Hotel all the way around.

Dear Lou,

The 1998 Dayton Daily News United States Air and Trade Show presented by Bank One was another great success. This year’s show celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the United States Air Force Reserves.  Highlighting this accomplishment was the outstanding performance put on by the U.S. Navy Blue Angels.

We would like to thank you and the rest of the Lima Lima Flight Team for your participation and support during the Air Show. This event has continually received tremendous support from the Dayton community and its volunteers. Please extend our sincere appreciation to all of the personnel involved for their lasting dedication to the Air Show.

Even though the show has just passed, we are already planning for the 1999 Air Show, which is scheduled for July 24-25. We look forward to working with you again and continuing a long lasting tradition in Dayton!

Again, thank you for your support.

Sincerely,

Lima Lima Flight Team

Your flight team recently performed in the Elkhart Air Show in Elkhart, Indiana. (June 6 & 7) I am a member of the planning committee for the Elkhart Show and have been involved with the show since it’s inception twelve years ago.  This year my wife bought  a ride for me with Lima Lima and I was fortunate enough to fly with Hank Krakowski.  This was by far the thrill of my life and, being a police officer, I have had many thrills.  In addition to my order (attached) please convey my gratitude to Hank and all the members of the Lima Lima Flight Team. Their show was fabulous, their demeanor professional, and they were a pleasure to work with.

Thanks Again,

Duane Clark

Dear Jim,

Wow!  What a show!  Lima Lima was absolutely stunning, in the box and
on Air Show Center like Magic!
Thanks to you and all of the Team of Lima Lima for a magnificent and
history making show.  We could not have made the impact without.
Please pass on my congratulations to all involved.  This has
 definitely been one to remember.

The Angels were cool but you lemons (oops) won the congeniality trophy
at the show.  I can't thank you enough for the great opportunities to
get press in the air as well as deserving committee members.
We are going to be at air and water in Chicago.  Nancy D. is already
making her plans to rally your Eau Claire groupies and take in the show
and the sites.
Can you pass on a Air and Water contact so we can get a behind the
scenes look at how that show is run?

Thanks again for the opportunity to fly!

Dear Lou:

Just a note to tell you how much we appreciated "Lima Lima" coming to
Eau Claire, WI. this weekend.
I'm a pilot, received my license in 1968, and was doing aerial photos on
6/14/98 over EAU.  Caught you flying in.
Attended the show on 6/15/98.  Hate to "blow off" the Blue Angels but,
to me, you people were the highlight of the show....  Especially  the
"Missing Man Formation".  It brought back memories and tears.
AWESOME!!  Took some great footage on my cheap cam-corder.
Thank you for coming up here to EAU.    It's the first time I've seen
your performance and I'm impressed!  BIG TIME!!!!!!!!!
Good Luck........  God Bless!!!!!!!

P.S.  Glad to see you're going to be at OSH.  I volunteer in the
membership booth, (under the big red balloon), along with my brother.  I
love the sound of any engine as long as it's not a jet.  I've always
felt that if I wanted to hear the sound of a jet, I'd put wings on my
Shop Vac.  Love radials!  Nope!  I'm not a WWII vet......  I just turned
51.  And Nancy Decker thinks you people are GREAT!!!!!!!!

Dear John:

Thank you for volunteering and conducting the fly-over during the Notre Dame vs. Navy football game last Saturday. My staff and I received numerous compliments from University officials on your performance. Fly-overs are always crowd pleasers – yours was no exception, and the missing man formation was an excellent consideration. Airshow of the Ozarks

Dear Lou,

Your flight team certainly lived up to the billing of the biggest team act ever at our Airshow. Your team’s performance was truly awesome and inspiring, and was a very important part of our successful show. Thank you for taking part in the rigorous Preshow publicity events that we used here In the Ozarks. I know that visiting schools may not be something typical in the industry but it certainly works here in the country, and I appreciate every one of your gentlemen taking part in that publicity event. The only possible flaw in the entire weekend was Bill’s inability to catch very many fish, and we’ll try to do better next time! Thanks again for being a part of our show, and if your team ever needs a reference, don’t hesitate to have anyone call me.

Very Truly yours,
James D. Sprott

Dear Mr. Drendel,

Please accept my sincere appreciation for your support   of our 1996 Air Show on 20,21 and 22 September. The Lima Lima Flight Team entertained and thrilled well over 160,000 spectators with superb precision formation flying and aerobatic skills. Please extend my thanks to all the pilots and crew for their outstanding efforts.  I am still receiving many compliments on your outstanding performance from our participants and distinguished visitors. I also appreciated your assistance with Friday’s Media flights and Practice Air Show which, for the first time, was enjoyed by our station employees as part of our NAS Oceana Appreciation Day. Petty Officer Zasucha and Airman Belcher thoroughly enjoyed working with all of you, and I was honored to have been associated with the best team in the air show industry. Thank you, again, for your support of the 1996 NAS Oceana Air Show, and please accept my congratulations for a job exceptionally "Well Done!"
